Flat Roofing in Kingston & Surrounding Areas
Flat roofing is designed for low-slope roof applications where traditional shingles may not be suitable. At All Around Roofing, we provide professional flat roofing solutions for homes and other properties throughout Kingston and the surrounding areas, using cold-processed roofing techniques and quality materials designed to create a durable, watertight roofing system.Whether you're replacing an aging flat roof, addressing a leak or installing a new low-slope roofing system, we'll assess the existing roof and help determine the appropriate solution for your property.
Not every roof can be shingled. Standard asphalt shingles are designed for specific minimum roof pitches, and many common shingle systems require a minimum slope of 3:12 or greater. Metal roofing systems also have minimum slope requirements that vary depending on the specific product and installation method. If your roof has a low slope, choosing a roofing material simply because it is familiar or readily available can create problems. Low-slope roofs require a roofing system specifically designed for the pitch of the roof, such as an appropriate flat roofing membrane or a specialty metal roofing system approved for low-slope applications. At All Around Roofing, we look at the actual pitch and construction of the roof before recommending a roofing system. If you have a low-slope roof, we'll help determine what system is actually appropriate for it rather than trying to make a one-size-fits-all roofing product work.
Flat Roofing Installation
1. Roof Inspection & Preparation
We begin by inspecting the existing low-slope roofing system and identifying the condition of the existing materials, roof deck, drainage and other important components. When a full replacement is required, existing roofing materials are removed as necessary to properly assess and prepare the roof deck.
2. Addressing the Roof Deck
Once the existing roofing materials have been removed, the decking is inspected for areas that are damaged, deteriorated or otherwise unsuitable. Any necessary deck repairs are addressed before the new roofing system is installed.
3. Proper Low-Slope Roofing System
Unlike a conventional shingle roof, low-slope applications require a roofing system specifically designed to handle the reduced pitch. We use appropriate flat roofing membrane systems and installation methods designed to provide reliable waterproofing on low-slope roofs.
4. Cold-Processed Flat Roofing
Our flat roofing work uses cold-processed roofing techniques, allowing the roofing membrane and associated materials to be installed without relying on open-flame application. Proper preparation, adhesion and detailing are critical to creating a durable, watertight system.
5. Drainage, Flashing & Penetrations
Water management is especially important on low-slope roofs. We pay close attention to drainage, roof edges, seams, flashing, vents, drains and other roof penetrations to help prevent water from finding its way beneath the roofing system.
6. Final Inspection & Cleanup
Once the installation is complete, we inspect the finished roofing system and its critical details, check the work area and clean up when the project is finished.
